Frequently Asked Questions

What types of therapy do you offer?
Evolve Therapy provides Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Educational Psychology services for children and young people. We offer in-clinic, school-based, home-based, and online sessions across Ireland.

Are your therapists CORU registered?
Yes. All of our Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational
Therapists are CORU registered and follow the highest standards of professional practice.

What does neuroaffirmative practice mean?
Neuroaffirmative practice means recognising and respecting neurodiversity — the natural differences in how people think, learn, and communicate. Our goal is to support each child’s strengths, interests, and communication style, rather than trying to change or “fix” them.

Can therapy be done online?
Yes. We are highly experienced in telehealth and have supported families across Ireland and abroad through online sessions. Our online therapy is interactive, family-centred, and evidence-based, and has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy.

Do you offer school and preschool visits?
Yes. Our therapists regularly visit schools and preschools to provide screenings, assessments, and direct therapy. We also collaborate with teachers and SNAs to ensure therapy goals are carried over into the classroom.

Do you provide intensive therapy programmes?
Yes. We offer intensive therapy blocks for families who wish to focus on specific goals over a shorter period of time. Intensive programmes can be scheduled during holidays or specific timeframes to maximise progress. Each plan is individualised and may include daily sessions or combined SLT and OT input. During your first session, your therapist will determine whether the priority is rapport building, a screening session, or establishing a baseline for therapy.

What do I start with: an initial consultation or an assessment?
Most families begin with an initial consultation. This allows us to gather background information, observe your child, and discuss your goals. From there, we will recommend either a full assessment or a block of therapy, depending on your child’s needs.

Can I claim therapy through my health insurance?
Yes. Most private health insurance providers in Ireland, including VHI, Irish Life, and Laya, offer partial reimbursement for sessions with CORU-registered therapists. Coverage amounts vary by plan, so it’s best to check directly with your provider.

Do you provide reports for schools or professionals?
Yes. We provide detailed therapy and assessment reports recognised by schools, paediatricians, psychologists, and other allied health professionals. These reports can support school accommodations, educational planning, and onward referrals.

What age groups do you work with?
We support children and young people from infancy through adolescence. Our approach is flexible and tailored to each child’s needs, whether they are developing early communication skills or navigating secondary school learning challenges.

What is the difference between Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy?
Speech and Language Therapy focuses on communication, speech sounds, feeding, and social interaction. Occupational Therapy helps children build the skills needed for everyday life — including play, self-care, sensory regulation, and fine motor
development.

What is Gestalt Language Processing?
Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) is a natural way some children learn language in larger “chunks” or scripts rather than single words. Our therapists ar
e trained in supporting this language style to help children progress toward self-generated, flexible language.

Do you provide feeding and swallowing support?
Yes. Our Speech and Language Therapists are trained in feeding therapy, including SOS Feeding, ARFID, and Dysphagia management. We use sensory-based and relationship-centred strategies to support safe, enjoyable mealtimes.

Do you work with autistic children?
Yes. We support autistic children and their families using a neuroaffirmative, child-led approach. Our therapists are trained in Gestalt Language Processing, AAC, and sensory regulation approaches that celebrate each child’s unique way of communicating.

Do you collaborate with other professionals?
Absolutely. We work closely with teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other professionals involved in your child’s care. This transdisciplinary approach ensures consistent, holistic support across home, school, and community settings.

What happens during the first session?
The first session is relaxed and tailored to your child. Your therapist will focus on building rapport, observing your child’s communication and regulation, and gathering background info
rmation. If appropriate, we may complete a brief screening or begin establishing therapy goals.

How do I book an appointment?
You can contact us directly through our website or by phone. Emily, our Clinical Director, will review your child’s information and match your family with the therapist or team best suited to your child’s individual needs.
